Colon removed 11 months ago when should pain killers be stopped

Mon, December 03, 2012 11:43 PM

I got diagnosed UC August 6, 2011. I got my colon removed December 7, 2011, and the take down surgery February 24, 2012. During this time I was on a lot of pain meds in and out of the hospital. I became addicted under a physicians care and because my health was so severe. Now it's coming up on a year and I still feel sluggish, weak, tired and still have mild pain. I have been kicked out of my house from my drug use. I never did drugs before I got sick, I never partied, and never went out to seek them before I got sick. My question is when do people stop taking pain pills? Is it to soon to soon to stop? It hasn't even been a year since my last surgery! I feel it's like getting a limb severed. I had my entire organ removed and it can't be replaced. I'm just trying to find answers if anyone else has became dependent off of drugs because of their sickness. I feel my parents don't understand.

Hope all is going well.  I told my family about my U.C. and nobody seems to care OR want to hear about the symptoms either.  Hang in there.
