Long distance move... and long drive!

Tue, May 18, 2010 8:17 PM

I am moving next week, we're renting a truck and moving ourselves for a 1,000 mile move, which will take about 15 hours. We're going to break it into 2 days, so I can tolerate it. I asked my doc about what to eat, or should I go liquid nutrition, or take Imodium for those few days. He said that he'd prefer if I just take the Imodium rather than change my eating habits. I still plan on eating light.

So, should I take it preventatively, before any symptoms arise? or just as needed? I'm just terrified of getting stuck in the middle of a long stretch of highway with no exit for another 20+ miles. When I have to go, I have to go, it's hard to wait a few minutes, let alone several miles.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I would bring along some Biffy Bags mentioned in Helpful Hints for when you Travel Hike or Camp. They are incredibly easy and sanitary to use and they are ready to use in less then a minute. I always keep some in my car just in case. Great product. I have only seen them on line can't find them in stores. Go to www.biffybag.com . Good Luck on your move.

I just took a long drive to Fla in Feb., I took a cookie bucket with me, so I could empty out, when no rest stops wereanwere to be found. It was a life sver for me. At rest spots I would empty out the bucket. Tryit , it works well.
