Hi everyone. I had a colonoscopy about 3 weeks ago. I had been hoping to use citrate of magnesia for the prep, which I could at least tolerate, but apparently it has been taken off the market due to bacterial contamination. The doctor prescribed Suprep, which was a horrifying experience. It was vile. I gagged multiple times before getting it all down.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Years ago I was able to take Visicol, which was a prep in pill form. This has also been withdrawn from the market, due to concerns about effects on the kidneys.
I realize that it's a bit early for me to start this project as my next one is not due for over a year, but I'm concerned that if I don't attend to it now I'll get distracted and won't have anything to ask for when the time comes to determine the prep. Thanks for any and all suggestions!

You should speak with your GI and even if they prescribe you something, you can typically talk to them and they are fine if you use something else, like miralax, as long as you let them know so they can let you know what dosage to use.

Hi! I am sorry your most recent colonoscopy prep was such a harrowing ordeal. I always use miralax. You typically have to get it over the counter, not presctipion, but I find it to be tasteless and I usually just mix it with gatorade or something.
