Ensure after serious flare-up

Sat, July 15, 2017 6:11 PM

My wife had a very nasty flare-up that is getting better with pred. She cannot eat much (mostly liquids (watery semolina, broth) and soft boiled eggs - a bit of each). She has lost quite a lot of weight.  (12 pounds in the past 3 weeks.) Would Ensure be a good idea to supplement her diet or is Ensure tough on the guts?

I don't have the nutritional info in front of me, but I highly recommend ProNourish by Nestle. It is formulated for " to avoid certain ingredients that may trigger digestive discomfort".  It has 15 mg Protein, gluten free and okay for lactose intolerance. I would look it up to find out where sold near you- have purchased at Publix and WAlgreens but noticed Publix was getting rid of it. Am going to email nestle about that. It is considered a low FOD MAP.

Hello, Ascertain that she is not lactose intolerant.Ensure is hard on the gut because it is hyperosmolar, meaning it sucks water into the gut. I would dilute it and drink overy 4 hours.
