Humira Side Effects - tingling in hands and feet

Sun, February 25, 2018 5:58 PM

I am 60 years old and was diagnosed with Crohn's 26 years ago. My previous medications (Asacol and Asacol 400) stopped working and my gastroenterologist put me on combo therapy with azathioprine and Humira in late December 2017. Within 4 days of my first Humira dose I began to experience tingling in my hands and feet.

The tingling is worse when I receive a Humira injection, and fades some in the 2 weeks between doses. The tingling never goes away completely, but will increase in intensity at times. It is particularly bothersome at night and frequently keeps me awake.

I have told my gastroenterologist, and he advised me to report the tingling to my primary care physician. I have done so, and my pcp tells me to wait and see if the tingling goes away. I am confused why the gastroenterologist doesn't pursue this as the prescribing physician, since the Humira insert states that tingling is a serious side effect.

Has anyone else experienced tingling in hands and feet with Humira? Does it go away? I am concerned about long-term nerve damage. My Crohn's feels like it is in remission after just 8 weeks on Humira, but I am concerned about the tingling.

Same.  I just started on Humira one week ago and 6 days after the initial dose, I noticed tingling in my feet.  Did you ever figure out what it was?
