Hello, I'm hoping there are a few folks who will share their experience with trying to treat multiple autoimmune disorders - in my case, Crohn's, Sjogren's Syndrome, and AS - and what seems to be working well. I've been on infliximab (infusion) for the latter two issues but my Crohn's is not responding very well. I went through the 'step therapy' of trying the lower-level pills, methotrexate, Humira for ten years, Cimzia for about six months, to the current infliximab.
An MRI showed potentially active disease, so I had a colonoscopy last week, with a discussion of the results scheduled for next week, along with a revised treatment plan. This is where things get sticky. There are only about 2-3 more biologics that treat more than one disease, but the potential side effects get scarier and scarier. Plus, trying to make sure the GI Department and the Rheumatology department are actually discussing this together adds a layer of frustration.
So, if anyone out there is in a similar circumstance and is willing to share, I'd be very grateful.
Kimberly
