Hello everyone, this is my first time here on these forums. My name is Kevin and I am 25 years old. Ive been having normal colitis symptoms for a couple weeks now. Such as some diahrrea here and there with some very slight bleeding. But within the past 3 days Ive been having a full blown flare up, stomach cramps, some bloating and most of all- excessive bloody diahrrea. Almost 3 days ago I decided to use some of my old medications, they vary some age, 2 years to 4 years old prednisone. I had a simliar flare up last year that I had to take prednisone at 30 mg. I took 40mg the other day and today I took 50mg (of the 2 year old one) considering I felt that it wasnt as potent since it was 4 years old. I feel very fatigued and I am noticing that I am going to the bathroom less today, or from what it seems since I took the 50mg from the past 8 hours.
I lost 2 days of work in a row and I am now out of sick days. Im not sure what to do next since my latest GI Doctor appointment isnt until the 30th of july. I tried calling other GI's in my network but they are probably a month sooner or so, regardless, Ill either be hospitalized or in remission by that time. Ive been thinking about seeing a PCP and making asking to see if I could get a doctors note or prednisone from him but I would doubt he would be able to prescribe me that.
Ive roughly only been eating white bread with peanutbutter and white rice with cooked onion in it. Nothing else, Im too afraid to try new foods, afraid of being irritated and losing days worth of healing just by trying new foods. Im so stressed too because of work since its all manual labor. I lift anywhere from 20 to 140 pounds at work. I do overnight hardware freight. Sleep is very poor since I have no AC and its 80 degrees , ontop of that I wake up atleast 3 to 4 times to go to the bathroom. Im at my wits end. Any support and opinions would be great.
