If things had been reasonably in control and she suddenty lost control you have to be concerned about C difficile. If that is the case, ask your physician. The traditional wisdom had been that you had to have had antibiotic treatment in the previous 6 months. Unfortunately this is no longer the situration. In an IBD patient conrolled and then has acute increase in diarrhea, C diff must be ruled out.

Metamucil works for me, but I need 2-3 heaping tablespoons mixed in just a few ounces of water, then followed by 16-24 ounces of water in late afternoon. In morning a have a few slightly urgent bm's, nice and soft. Then I am good for the day usually. It's the only thing that keeps my D & C under control.
