Hi!  I am not sure if you were diagnosed with UC or CD.  I don't know what would be recommended for UC or if it would be different.  I have CD, and I use either Imodium or Pepto-Bismol (tablets).  I used to use Imodium exclusively, but when I had a severe flare starting around Thanksgiving and lasting through the beginning of the year, it seemed like I developed a tolerance to Imodium.  I had not really used Pepto-Bismol in the past - I had this memory of someone, somewhere saying that it turns your stool black, but I was having 6-7 watery stools per day, and was desparate.  I tried Pepto, first alternating it with Imodium, and then it seemed that the Imodium wasn't doing anything, so I just used Pepto.  I was taking the max daily.  I kept a food diary, stool diary, and medication diary to track everything - I wanted to see what was working and wasn't working.  It was clear that the Pepto was the med that gave me best control, and as my flare subsided, I was able to see the results in numbers of medication/day related to stools/day.

Hope that is helpful!
