Getting sick after the weekend

Mon, April 15, 2013 12:05 PM

I have FMLA and have found myself mostly getting sick after the weekend. I try to eat the same things. Has anyone else experienced this? I wonder it's because my body is used to my m-f schedule being the same everyday and the weekends are usually a different schedule, it just throws my body out of wack. I just hate having to call in mostly on Mondays. If anyone else has experienced this do you have any suggestions?

I too get sick on Sunday nights and Mondays and I always thought it was because I get stressed about having to go back to work.  I have a really stressful job.  I can almost feel my shoulders tighten Sunday nights as I mentally prepare for the workweek.  I often have a hard time sleeping Sunday night as well which contributes to getting sick on Mondays.

I didn't think about it being from eating differently over the weekend...

Hi, Amanda. I just wanted to say thanks for posting, I have the same problem and it's good to know others do too. I think you're right, the body is used to the Monday through Friday schedule and the weekends cause me a lot of trouble too. I've missed almost every Monday at school since being diagnosed with Crohn's in February. As for the tips, I'd love to hear some myself! Hopefully someone else will reply to this, but my best advice would be trying to keep the weekends as similar to the weekdays as possible.
