Emergency Kit

Tue, July 08, 2008 12:00 AM

Does anyone else carry, or have ever thought about carrying, an emergency kit?  Like a roll of toilet paper, change of clothes, etc. just in case the worst happens?

The thought has crossed my mind, but I just wanted to see if I was the only one!

If you have one, what all do you carry with you/keep in your car?

Hi Everyone-

These are all such great ideas that I definitely never would have thought of doing! I'm totally going to go make a little Emergency bag! (though I hope I never need it...) Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

Yes. My emergency kit was just a couple of extra pairs of underwear in my glovebox that have always embarassed me when a passenger opens it up to their surprise... lol

You guys have put a lot of thought into it. What a cool idea, having a mini-potty everywhere you go. Next time I go to a hospital I'm swiping a bedpan if I can. Diapers are so not cool.

Hi,

I travel with a small potty in my van in case I have to pull over due to the less than 30 second warning I have when the urge hits.  I always have wipes, extra underwear, hand sanitizer and usually an extra outfit with me.  This has helped me many times over the past few years.  It is my security blanket on the road.  I have had colitis for 4 years.

I also keep a bag in the trunk of my car. It is a change of clothes, a plastic bag for soiled clothes, wipes, tissues and a small can of bathroom spray...just in case i need it. There's nothing worse than being caught of guard. It happened to me when I was first diagnosed with UC.

I was just recently diagnosed (July 3rd).  But I have had an emergency kit that I have carried with me everywhere (work, golf course, special events, etc.), as I was having symptoms weeks before my colonoscopy and then diagnosis.

I have: special pads, sanitary wipes, toilet paper, extra change of clothes, hand sanitizer and of course, extra medication in case I get delayed somewhere and cant get home in time for my normal dosage.  I carry it all in a backpack.
