Hello Im 24 and love in the US and like many I have plenty of questions about healthcare andcost. I was diagnosed when I was 21 with severe Crohn's, at the moment Ive had good success with remicade infusions. Currently I am employed at UPS which for the most part has great health coverage and feel lucky I was employed with them when diagnosed. The main reason for employment is to pay for my schooling I plan to finish but once thats over Ill be looking to not work at ups for life. Just wanted to know what options there were for me out there once I decide to make this change. I've also would really like to know if any Canadians could describe their costs with crohns(specifically remicade) and how mich they pay because moving to another country is something I've wondered about.

I'm 26 and live with my boyfriend. We live in Minnesota and after a year of struggling with insurance I finally got on to a MNsure plan. I strongly recomend going through state insurance if you cannot get your meds/fees covered by your employer. When I was on my parents' insurance we had Blue Cross Blue Shield. Now I'm on it through MN state insurance. It's not accepted everywhere which sucks but almost everything has been the same. I'm going to be put back on Humira or something like it (which was over $4,000 a month not insured) and I'm hoping my insurance will cover it. I'll definitely keep you posted. Also, if we find out I can't pay that cost I can go on my boyfriend's insurance he gets through work - fees will still be high but I think they cover humira.

I wish someone would have answered this question because this is something I am curious about also. I am on Remicade also and cannot believe the cost of each infusion.
