I have been living with Chron's for over 30 years and have always had to forego my favorite vegetables or pay the price of gas and cramps. I recently came across Jessica Seinfeld's new cookbook Deceptively Delicious. In it she uses pureed vegetables to fool kids into eating healthy. I thought that pureed vegetables may be easier to digest so I have tried a number of her recipes like pureed cauliflower in scrambled eggs, pureed sweet potatoe in chicken pot pie, pureed spinach in mini pizzas, or pureed brocolli in chicken fingers. They all tasted great and best of all no after effects. I'm having a great time learning to eat my vegetables in a different way. I just wish I had thought of this sooner. Both my daughters also suffer from Chron's and I think of the all the tummy aches they suffered in their youth probably due to the early stages of the disease that we may have been able to avoid. If you want to look at her recipes and try them out she had some them posted on the Oprah Show's website.

Hey... that sounds great, if it's working. Someone with IBD might want to be especially careful to continue avoiding cuciferous vegetables like broccoli, though. As I understand, it's the type of natural sugar break-down that causes the gas and pain and bloating more than the roughage or the fiber itself. Good luck to everybody and stay strong even if puree doesn't work out for you. I've been juicing for awhile and it's working out lovely for me but I still have to stay away from the cuciferous vegetables. My appologies for any spelling errors. Take care.
