Functional Capacity Evaluation

Fri, July 25, 2008 7:12 PM

Has anyone been asked by their insurance company (mine is CIGNA) to undergo a functional capacity evaluation? I am sure that this doesn't measure the daily pain or how many times I go to the bathroom. What is this about? Is my insurance looking for any reason to cease my benefits?

Cigna is sneaky be careful, I had them for a while and they would try anything to not pay for things even when they knew I had problems and it was covered.
Make sure you contact your insurance company and find out for sure what your coverage and benefits are and ask them to explain the evaluation to you then get a second opinion. Even ask your Dr. for some advice.
Definetly ask around before filling it out.

I have cigna also,

They have not asked me as of yet, but before you do something like that speak to an attorney to make sure what they are asking is legal and that they are not trying to find a way to cancel your coverage.  I would be very very careful regarding this one.  Did they explain why they are asking?.  Let me know what happens as I am sure it will come my way too as I am covered with them and I have had a lot of medical bills this year as I have been flaring up now for a couple of months and lots of bloodwork and tests.  I wish you the best,
