Wed, March 27, 2019 7:18 AM

Hey so I'm new to the forum and would like to talk to people about how UC and effect my family. Both run in my family some have worse problems than others and very different symptoms. It hit every other generation. My Crohn's Disease is always there to remind me to eat something to keep my gut calm. Recently I have been managing better without medication while my aunt had her second surgery.

I'm sorry to hear that both UC and Chron's run in your family. As far as I know, i'm the first in my family to have Chronic UC. Both my grandpas experienced UC symptoms some time in their lives, but both just had to change their diets for a bit and their symptoms went away and have never come back. That's definitely not my case. As far as I can tell, changing my entire diet doesn't help at all. Knowing that this disease can be genetic scares me for my future kids.
