Hello,
I can somewhat relate. I am also an RN, have Crohn's Colitis diagnosed in 2013. I have worked part time since then, evenings because mornings are difficult for me especially during a flare.
I am supposed to start Humira but Insurance are delaying, I currently take Lialda.
I work in urgent care so I am concerned with the increased infection risk on a Biologic. I wear a mask during flu season but i know that can only offer a little protection.
I am looking for a non-clinical job part time but as i said mornings are tricky. So I'm stuck right now...not sure which direction to go it.
I'm sorry you are having to deal with added stress and the loss of your mother. I agree, nursing does have a lot of options with different areas and specialties but having a chronic illness adds a whole new dimension to our work life.
It sounds like you have a lot of experience...would you consider telephone triage or advice nurse ? some of those positions allow you to work from home.

thanks ! I do feel that those jobs are gold dust but you never know...I have looked on Allnurses.com forum, under specialties there is a telehealth section with some good posts re: companies hiring etc. I remember seeing one based in Texas.
good luck !

Hi! I know it sounds a little nuts, but it seems like it is difficult to "break into" the telephone triage or nurse advice job market. Or maybe I am not looking in the right places, or don't know the right people... I live in South Central Texas, and I have noticed that many of those jobs require a nurse to be bilingual, which I am not. I guess I just need to keep trying - I probably limit myself too much, too, because I haven't really looked for jobs that weren't anything but M-F, day shifts. Some of the tele-health type jobs have been night jobs and I know I can't work nights - I am asleep by 10 pm! I think I just need to expand my search, and also check out the Schedule A hiring - which I am starting to learn about through the ADA act. I am looking at the website: https://www.eeoc.gov/eeoc/initiatives/lead/abcs_of_schedule_a.cfm
Well, thanks for your response and encouragement! Hope things work out for you too!
