Waiting for diagnosis

Hello,
Forgive me but I know little to nothing about IBD except what I heave read on the internet this past week.  Referred to GI due to stomach pain and constant diarrhea for the past year or so.  I am scheduled for colonoscopy in 2 months but did stool tests 2 weeks ago.  Last week received a call from dr. office informing me all tests were negative except one, inflamed bowels with no infections.  My response..."Oh, ok that's not uncommon right?"  Her response..."the doctor will do a biopsy during your colonoscopy".  Confused, I googled it and everything comes up either UC or Crohns.  Thinking I'm jumping to conclusions I tried to dismiss it but then I received a low FodMap diet in the mail from my GI.  Is it IBS or IBD?  Tried to get the doctor's office to call me back as I have a million questions but no return call as of yet.  I feel like my symptoms are mild compared to what I have been reading.  I have about 4-6 loose to watery stools a day about 4-5 times a week, every week for the past year.  Stomach pain comes and goes, gassy bloated feeling several times a week.  I have recently noticed that the palms of my hands have become very dry even when using lotion 4-5 times a day.  I have not seen blood in my stool but on a few occasions a few months back I had clear (maybe mucous?) liquid in my stool.  Just turned 50 so thought I might be starting menopause but am now wondering if those hot flashes and skipped periods might be related to this?  Can anybody provide any insight, advice, suggestions, or just moral support?  I hate the idea of having to wait 2 months.
