Nervous about Pregancy after J Pouch Surgery

Wed, October 29, 2008 12:00 AM

Hello, I am 38 years old and lived with UC for a short time.  I had surgery at age 28 and at that time I already had three children.  I am now remarried and my husband and I would like to have a child together.   I am really nervous about the delivery and getting enough vitamins during pregnancy to keep the baby healthy.  It has been 10 years since my surgery and my primary doctor and my colorectal surgeon said that I will be fine.  It would just be nice to talk to someone that has been through this.  If there is anyone out there that has had a baby after surgery I would really like to correspond with you.  GS

There are some forums on jpouch.org that can help address female issues like this one.

I have read some posts here, and none, if I remember right, suggests any problems with having a jpouch while pregnant,

Hey well I have Crohn's not UC I also have not had any surgery's but when I was 16 I found out I have Crohn's since then the only time that I have been in remmison is when I was pregnant. It was great I have been on every mediciane made for it. Nothing really helps mine, but when I was pregnant I was able to get off every Medication and it was great. I did however take the prenatal vit. and also took extra folic acid and some other kind of multi vit. also. The best part was being able to eat pizza for the first time in almost four years. Well hope everything works out.
