"Get Your Guts in Gear"

I was wondering if anyone has done any of the 210 mile bike rides for Crohn's and Colitis? I was thinking about doing one this year, but am unsure of my physical capabilities. If anyone has done or is thinking about doing this ride and has information on either training or tips I would greatly appreciate it....thanks! I feel like if I could train and ride in this event it would mean a lot in terms of overcoming physical doubts and weakness due to having ulcerative colitis.

I've never done a bike ride like that, but I did run a half marathon last April with Team in Training (the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's program). They put you through a slowly progressive training program that definitely worked for me. I really wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it, especially when my father died and I had a big flair up. But I ended up running the whole 13.1 miles. I think if you start slowly, and continually train with slow but steady increases in your distances, you should be fine. I've been sick on and off for the past three months and haven't exercised since October, but I'm going to start again tomorrow. I want to run a 10k at the end of March. Good luck to you! I find that exercise really helps me, both physically and emotionally. I really try to keep up with it when I can.
