Cold/Flu and a Flare?

Wed, March 18, 2009 4:23 PM

Just wondering if anyone else gets a flare when they get a cold or the flu.
I have been in remission for 4 months now and my husband and I came down with the flu this weekend and by yesterday I had bleeding again.
Seeing the Doc tomorrow I dont want this to get out of hand quickly it took me 5 years to get into remission.

Most people can handle the shot since it is not a live virus.  however, the flu mist is live and not recommended for people with a weakend immune system.

best of luck

I get the flu shot every year just because I was told my immune system is so fragile to begin with, I ended up having the flu last weekend took me a few days to bounce back but I to had a high fever and a flare, went to my Dr the other day and he told me to give it a couple days before he upped my meds. Things seemed to have cleared up since my flu cleared.
Make sure he keeps his fluid intake up and that he tries to eat something, I know its easier said than done. If anything it wouldnt hurt to go get an IV of fluids, its amazing how quickly you can dehydrate when you have the flu.
Be safe. Good luck.

I think my son just got a flare from the flu.  Have any of you taken the flu shot.  His GI suggested he do the flu shot next year, but of course I am afraid of doing that too.  This disease makes you afraid of trying anything.  I have heard some people can't tolerate the flu shot

My very first flare was triggered by the flu....which really sucks because I normally get the flu twice a year!
