It took me a lot of years to learn how to deal with the pain associated with Crohn's Disease.  I had to go through a lot of trials and tribulations to get to where I am now.  The best advice I can give is to always listen to your body!  Slow down and try to avoid too much stress.  That was always a trigger for me.  I went through many years of different pain meds that were very strong and that led to an addiction.  They also lost their effectiveness at this point in time.  Staying depression free with a lot of support from my family is my biggest life saver.  I get colonic and body massages as often as possible.  They really help a lot.  It also helps for someone to rub or massage your back during a painful episode.  I hope these few suggestions help you out a little.

Expect pain.  Then if you happen to have a rare pain-free day, you can really be pleasantly surprised and enjoy it.  Breathe.  Slow down.  When you need to cry and have a pity party, do so, then set a time limit to get over it and move on - thats the important part.  Acupuncture is nice for pain symptoms.
Of course, you should follow your doctors regimen for regular medications and such, and dont hesitate to ask for pain medication if you need it.
