Hi all,
Just wondering if any of you have found that your work affects your Crohns?I was diagnosed last November with it and Ive been in remission thankfully for the past 5 months or so but as you know with the current economic crisis etc. people are feeling stress in the workplace etc.Recently I was given a warning of redundancy letter which came to nothing...my employers asked me and the other secretary and to come up with a solution and if it was viable neither of us would lose our jobs.So we did and they accepted it which meant that she would have to move to a separate department. Therefore it left me and my line manager with the workload of 5-6 people(as other secretaries had already left). Now they didnt come out with the decision immediately, they left us hanging for a week, that week was probably the most stressful week of my life and as you know in normal circumstances anyone would just look for another job but seen as the market is just slowly starting to recover in the UK, it makes it a bit more difficult. So to cut a long story short I and this other lady have been doing triple(or more) of our workload now for the past 2 weeks and I have been so stressed out over it, that I am now sitting at home with a flare up of Crohns again.I really think I might need either a career change or job change but obviously it will need to be something less stressy than working as a PA who everyone thinks has 90 hands. Can anyone give me any ideas as to what I might think about changing to. A job that will have minimal stress....is there such a job?I dont want to stress myself about it in these days that I have off and away from it all but I definitely need to do something and fast I think, I cant afford to be having flare ups every few weeks for the sake of some rubbish company who were contemplating making me redundant a few weeks back. All ideas and replies will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for tuning in.

i worked a very easy job as a sales asociate that was actually pretty stressful (pretty much workers-wise) and felt awful from nov.-jan. in jan i ended up with walking pnuemonia and was out for a week (they weren't happy) and was a little better, felt aweful form my crohn's (before i was diagnoses) and ended up having to quit. that was in mid feb. since then, i haven't been able to work.
i'm sorry it's not any advise, but it's just a story of someone who knows how you feel.
have you thought of seeing a therapist? i bought a book from borders or barnes and noble. i'm pretty sure it was barns and noble, that was one of their bargin book "don't sweat the small stuff; cause it's all small stuff" or something like that. i haven't read it yet, but i plan to. maybe you could get/borrow that.
