Tattoos? and joint pain

Mon, September 14, 2009 7:48 PM

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone knows about getting a tattoo while taking Humira for Crohn's?  I had my first dose on 9/9/09.  I know it impairs the immune system...so would getting a tattoo now be dangerous?

Also (I know this is the wrong area, but still...), any tips for managing joint pain?  It's mostly in my knees, hips and hands...not super bad, but still painful.

Thanks!

hmm i dont know about being on humira and getting a tattoo but i have been on remicade since march of 09 and have gotten a new tattoo and everything ended up fine. i guess its do it at your own risk. if you take care of the area and keep it clean you shouldnt have any problems. I had a question about going tanning...has anyone went tanning while being on remicade? or getting iron infusions because they are anemic from crohns?

I would seriously wait. When I finished taking steroids along with a few other meds I was being treated with. I had to wait 2 months before I could get tattooed.

I don't know about the tattoo issue. I had my tattoos done years ago and just started Humiera last year.

As for the joint pain, I get that pretty bad as well. I notice if I exercise regularly I don't feel the pain as much. Also, it goes away when I am on Prednisone for flare ups.

The problem is, I don't have a lot of energy. I know the exercising will help, but the motivation is hard to come by. I take Tylenol when the joint pain is unbearable.
