Stress

Thu, September 17, 2009 11:01 AM

So I had an infusion appointment last Friday and had a bad reaction and they had to stop it so my Dr said I can do it again just at a slower pace that will take 5-6 hours I agreed well I started a flare prior to my infusion and its been about a week and had to miss some work got letters from my Dr and gave to my employer I was told oh we will work with you and dont worry well I cant get FMLA for another 6 months I went home sick yeaterday and am going to miss Monday for my infusion and when I got to work today my mgr called me in and said they can not do anythng for me and since I do not qualify for FMLA that when I come back to work on Tuesday I will be written up for missing time.Yeah we will work with you BS I almost feel like I have to choose between my health and my job I have canceled numerous Dr appointments because I felt guilty leaving work and asking for the time to go,but you know what I need to stay healthy and need to do what I need to and they do too so I guess if I get fired I do i just hate this I mean I understand they have a business to run but dont tell me it will be ok and we will work something out and then say oh well sorry.

Not that this probably helps, but I totally understand. I am a personal trainer...try that with a full on flare up, can't stay out of the bathroom for 20 minutes when clients are paying you for an hour and looking to you for energy and motivation....UGHHHhhhh been a rough couple of months. I don't fear getting "fired" necessarily, but I only get paid when I am with clients and am the primary breadwinner in my house. I only get to keep my health insurance if I maintain a certain number of hours which leaves me totally exhausted. I am just thankful that there are others out there who understand.

Yeah I think I will do some research but in Colorado they can fire you for no reason what so ever which sucks.I am just not real sure about the law.

That stinks!   I believe they are breaking the law.   My suggestion to you would be to call the 888 number posted on this site and pose the question.   Isn't this employer treatment unlawful?   I think it should be covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act.   Get educated on what your rights are.

You need to take care of yourself and not worry about some mgr. writting you up.   Good luck to you.
