I'm tryin to gain weight as well.  I was taking muscle milk before I was diagnosed with crohn's earlier this month.  My Nutritionist want's me to try ensure, or the cheaper equate from Walmart.  If I don't gain anything I gonna go back to muscle milk and see if that helps.  I like the cookies and cream.  I am lactose intolerant to some extent, and this was working fine with me.  You can get it from GNC, Bodybuilding.com, and Walmart.  I hope this helps.

I've been wanted to try Absorb Plus, but unfortunately it's not feasible in my budget right now. But it sounds really good:

http://www.holistichealthshoppe.com/astragalus.php?id=6#10

The link on this site to the entire list of ingredients isn't working for me tonight, but if I remember correctly this is lactose-free. According to the above-mentioned site:

"Absorb Plus has been carefully formulated to meet the unique needs of people who have problems chewing, swallowing, digesting or absorbing their food. This includes people with Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Diverticulitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Cancer, AIDS, Anorexia, people pre and post-surgery, and the elderly. There is currently NO product on the market that matches Absorb Plus in nutritional value or the extremely high quality of our ingredients. One of our customers (who researched the market extensively) put it like this: "The other liquid diet or elemental products are like going to McDonald's, whereas Absorb Plus is like a home-cooked meal!"

"The Absorb Plus formula was developed to provide maximum nutrition to help build and strengthen your immune system and allow you to maintain or gain solid weight (muscle, not fat). Absorb Plus contains ingredients that are in ratios that allow for optimum utilization and absorption. Absorb Plus provides protein and carbohydrates in the most desirable forms and proportions and includes an extensive array of free-form amino acids, with a superior vitamin and mineral profile (ncluding trace elements). Finally, Absorb Plus tastes so good, you can consume it up to 12 times a day - if necessary!"

My daughter needed to put on some weight after a terrible flare and her dr. suggested two Boost's a day.   She is not lactose intollerant, so you will have to see if they come lactose free.   If they don't, would you be able to take a Lactaid pill prior to drinking it?   Anyway, I hope this helps you....it sure put some much needed weight on her.

Good Luck

Have you tried peanut butter? It works for me. Try Arrowhead Mills Organic Peanut Butter, Valencia blend, no salt added, 8grams protein per two tablespoons. The stuff is magic. I have UC.
