New Begining w/Cimzia and side effects

We decided on Cimzia - started last week and it has been a challegning start. Mostly due to injection soreness to my tummy and extreme fatigue and dizzyness.

Got out side for the 1st time to enjoy some fresh air, I am so afraid of catching a cold or flu bug. Am I too worried to be out and about?? How do I avoid gettng a serious cold/flu?

What advice on the extreme fatigue? What will my second injection post days be like? Feeling a little better each day!!!

i started taking cimzia in march 2009. i did notice a fatigue at first for a few days after each injection, but that has subsided. it has really halped get my crohn's under control. mulitple vitamins and iron also helped me with the tiredness. i do think it will get better for you,

I've been on Cimzia since the end of August. I was told the best place for the injections was the thighs and have had no problems with it, other than trying to give the needles to myself can be challanging! I hate needles. So far I have felt no relief from my crohns from the Cimzia to the extent that i am 7 days out of hospital for a partial blockage to my intestine. I was told that the Cimzia can take as much as 6 months to fell full effects from. I"m hoping its not that long though. So i am also on Entocort and Pred and feeling slightly better right now. As for the flu, get the flu shot! It is worth it. Keep hand sanitizer in your car and at home. Wash your hands a lot. At home wash down door nobs, etc at least once a week just to get the germs off. This can help incase anyone who has touched anything has the germs so they will not pass onto you. Hope this help and you have some relief from your symptoms soon.

I have been taking Cimzia since January 2009. Sorry to hear your first injection has had such miserable side effects. Did you know you can recieve the injections in your hip/upper thigh? Many times, the nurse/doctor will tell you the injecitons hurt more in the thigh area but I havent found that to be the case. The area usually has slight swelling the next day and I will have a bruise afterwards that is very small but no pain. Since you are just beginning the process and "front loading", I am hopeful that your side effects will diminish. Definitely talk to the nurse about what you are experiencing. Regarding the dizziness, I would recommend also checking the side effects of any other medications you may be taking as many meds for IBD have that as a side effect. I hope the injections help and the side effects diminish.
