does anyone have these embarassing accidents like a child?

I just get so embarassed when this happens....usually in public....try to get to the restroom but don't quite make it....even in remission it happens occasionally....especially if I eat....but you got to eat!  I get nervous if I have to go to a meeting at work or get together....so embarrassing to have to get up and leave espcially more than one time....and be gone for so long sometimes trying to clean myself up....and hoping i can go back without any odor., etc....oh yeah...I have colitis....what does everyone else do...this causes such anxiety in my life.....if I get the urge it's like gonna come right then........

I to have accidents sometimes its so embarrassing that you just want to cry and other times you cant help but laugh . I carry extra clothing in my cars, wet wipes and TP .I also carry wet wipes and extra underwear in my purse cause you  never know when you might have that accident . You could be having a good day then all of a sudden it goes  bad . If theres a line in the womans bathroom and I have to go I will cut in front of everyone and explain to them I really have to go . This is not a fun disease to deal with and a lot of people do not understand what we go through .

hi: yes i have had many, many embarrassing accidents and it makes a person feel like they need to learn potty training all over again.  i work in the community 5 days a week and everyday i wonder if i am going to have a good day or a bad day.  i just pray to jesus that he lets me have a good day with my bowels.  i try to keep extra undergarments and toilet paper in the car but that is hard to remember at times when u run around from day to day.

I am so glad that I am not the only one.  I have not left my house for a month because I am afraid of having accidents in public.  I am lucky that I can work from home, because otherwise I do not know what I would do.  I was just feeling horrible about having an especially bad night & now feel better that I am not alone.

I thought I was the only one going through this. It has been very distressing to me. Mostly it is just lots of blood, but I mean LOTS.  I was finally diagnosed about 5 weeks ago.  I also keep a spare change of clothing in my car, also wet wipes. Have been using double underliners. It just is awful.. Not sure how I have kept it a secret for so long. Sorry you are going through this, you are obviously not alone, nor am I!

Today marks 10 days with no accidents-not anything special to most people but for me it is a big deal!  Good luck!!

That is amazing that you have twins and you are also working and you have this disease.  I admire your attitude and what you are trying to achieve.  I also have 3 children and have this situation come up sometimes.  The best thing for ME is to take time to use my hydrocortisone enemas and stay quiet for awhile.  I don't know how possible that is for you with all that you have going on.  Mesalamine suppositories are a second best, less messy, and allow me to be mobile.  It should be possible to get to the point that you aren't suffering like this.

I have my "emergency kit" in my purse. Like everyone else and if I know I am going to have a particularly hard day or am having bad flares I wear a depend, they suck cause they get moist, but better than having a mess clear down your pants to right?!

I also have a little kit. I usually wear an underwear liner of some sort, carry and extra pair of underwear (I don't want to wash a pair in a public sink, I toss them if they are too bad, maybe wasteful but heh...). I have some flushable wipes in the zip lock bag, they are moist so you can clean yourself much better using them before "blotting" yourself dry. I also have a travel Lysol spray to act as a deodorizer (it's a tiny can). If I can't find that I buy a spray can of breath freshener and spray it in the stall before I leave.

Some of those small items you can get in the section of a store when they have the traveler's supplies like toothpaste and mouthwash. Women put stuff in their handbags or brief case, men nowadays depending on where they are, have brief cases, computer carrying cases, fanny packs, backpacks etc.. It really makes me feel so much better to feel "clean" that I don't mind carrying all the gear.

I think being prepared is the best advice I can give you.   My daughter used to have an occassional accident and what I did was cover all my bases.  I'd have a survival kit @ pre-school, in both of our cars and Pa's house.

You can start by keeping a survival kit in your office and car.   This way you have an oops and you are not left w/o having a plan.   A neutral skirt/pants and panties can always match whatever else you are wearing.  What I do is this:   Put a travel size Lysol, cleansing wipes, and travel size detergent, two sandwich size zip-lock bags all into a larger ziplock.   This way when you feel it coming on you can grab your baggie and take care of business.   Use the detergent to quickly rinse out underwear, hose, etc., stash them into the sandwich zips for safe keeping, once cleaned up with the cloths, spray Lysol to freshen the facilities, and off you go.

I think just knowing we are prepared helps.  Good luck
