Disability Insurance/Life Insurance/Less Germy Employment

Hello There- I was officially diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2007 although I have been going through testing/colonoscopies since 2005--it has been quite a journey.

Most recently I have been hit with a hard bout of pneumonia and was sick for a majority of Dec. 2009. (I am finally feeling better- thank God!)

Because I have been quite sick for some time I have to face the reality that some day I may need Disability Insurance. I work for a school district and we meet with representatives once a year to sign up for different programs and while the woman was talking to me she showed me a card with a list of illnesses on it and immediately my eyes were drawn to "Crohns."

Questions that I am seeking answers include:

1. How do I get disability insurance/How do I qualify/What companies would you recommend when dealing with Crohns Disease.

2. Life Insurance- Already been rejected once; does everybody with Crohn's get rejected?

3. I work in Education- Any ideas for a less-germy career with good health insurance?

4. Any ideas as to careers with the BEST health insurance coverage?

I would appreciate input- Thanks so much!

I was also excited about trying to get Aflac through my job when the rep came to the office - but once I told her I had UC/Crohn's she said those were automatic exclusions....

It makes me nervous with the new govt healthcare changes that may be taking place soon - no one will want to have me on their insurance cause I use $$$ on treatments/meds. I know they are not supposed to be able to reject you - but still makes me wonder.

Good luck on the Disability insurance - but I think it will be difficult to find a company to accept you with your dx.

I tried to get disability insurance through Aflac and was denied due to Crohns disease. I'm not sure about other companies.
