Feel free to relate & share a laugh (I)

This is my most recent post at my personal IBD site (www.lonelysmallintestine.com).  My site is pretty new, so I do not get a lot of traffic yet.  I thought this post deserved to get in front of people that can relate a little better.  Please share you stories as well.

Arrrrr Me Mateys!! What be down on the poop deck?!

This post is geared toward folks with an ileostomy and a pouch.  Now, this does not mean that you should not read it otherwise, but let's just say you might be in for an "education."

We all have done this many times even before our re-routing.  We finish our business and sometimes you have to look down.  It is usually just curiosity or as many of us learned the hard way-health and safety concerns.  Now, we have to look down every single darn time!  It is an education of sorts.  "Wow, I do not chew very well or Wow, that does not digest at all."  It could be seeds, nuts, peels, onions, mushrooms, peppers...etc.  I have a couple stories I would like to share.

"I don't know how I am not in the hospital."  I just kept saying that over and over to myself.  A whole darn jalapeno pepper!!  I am not kidding.  I do not know how it made it out of that little hole, but thankfully it did.  I felt especially relieved because of how many times my doctors warned me about blockages.  I always knew that I did not chew very well, so the doctors made sure they said, "You have to masticate a lot."  I thought that finally something positive had come out of this disease.  "Oh wait.....that means what??"  Continued on next post.

Part II

I woke up late one morning so I made the decision that I would grab breakfast on the way.  I pulled into Starbucks and got a coffee and a red velvet cupcake.  Yeah, Yeah.  I know....a very healthy breakfast.  I went about my day and happened to end up at a public restroom (Don't you love public restrooms??  They are always so clean.).   I sat down and then I looked down and for one split second I thought, "I am bleeding internally!!"  After that second was over, I was laughing out loud.  Anyone who heard me must of thought I was nuts.  Fortunately, most people try to ignore the sounds made in a bathroom.  I could not believe that the red velvet cupcake turned my output completely red.  I still find it amusing to this day.  Sometimes, I even think it would be fun to freak out an unsuspecting loved one.  I tend to talk a lot so they all have heard this story before.  I consider it a lost opportunity. ;)
