I was diagnosed with crohns colitis 2 yrs ago. It has not yet gotten under control, and I have never been pain free or bleeding free to date. Like everyone else, I am on several meds. None have really worked yet.
As I said, I have never been pain free, but the last couple of weeks the pain has been unbearable. I went to the ER one time, they did tests on every organ inside of me, and found nothing abnormal except one enzyme the was elevated they said indicated blood clots, but the CT found none. They said it was probably a flare up, and without a colonoscopy they couldn't say for sure. Should I assume that is what this is since nothing else was found? I have never had this much pain.
I haven't yet talked to my GI, I have an appt this Friday. He is not much help, I also have an appt with a different dr. for another opinon on my treatment.

With the amount of pain you are describing, I would hope the GI would recommend a colonoscopy. In the past, I've had inflammation that's shown up on a CT but not on other tests and I know that symptoms can show on a colonscopy that won't show up on a CT scan. Good luck and with all of the other symptoms you are describing, it sounds like evaluating your diet would be a good idea. I hope you feel some relief soon!

I am going to second the diet thing! I have all the proof I need. Saturday morning my darling hubby enticed me with his wonderful pancakes. I caved, I paid. One pancake with fruit will not bother me but 4 of them with syrup, well, yuck. I am researching the SCDiet. I currently eat a low carb diet but I am not where I want to be. It is a process.
You maybe in a flare. Think. What changed in your life? More stress? Unhealthy eating? The humble little shrimp will send me into a flare like state.
