Parenting with Crohn's

Sun, April 11, 2010 12:55 AM

I am a stay at home mom to a sweet, curious, energetic toddler. Does anyone have any advice for navigating parenting while dealing with Crohn’s - especially when flaring?

When you do feel well, make more than enough when you cook so you can freeze some and use them on your difficult days.  Sometimes just walking across the room feels like a chore, making a meal would take so much effort.

Things I freeze for future meals
soups & sauces (with meat in the sauce)
greens & beans (italian greens... are delicious and tastes  great even after defrosting & reheating)
keep a loaf of italian bread frozen.  all you have to do is take it out of the freezer and keep it on the counter and it's good to go in 2 hours or so.

I understand where you are coming from its not easy sometimes.  Do you have any freinds or family you can call?  My husband is always helpful when he comes home to help me.  I would say don't give up on being in remission if you aren't already.  Look into different diets, do your own resarch, find a good gi doc.  What ever ya do be persistent thats what others have told me.  I haven't found the perfect solution but i keep trying good luck to you:)
