I was diagnosed in 1990, first with UC, then with Crohn's disease. I had never heard of either disease so it was very frightening time. I had to gather a lot of information very quickly.
I couldn't locate a support group in my city so I decided to begin my own! Our group grew very rapidly from 8 members to 150 members in a very short period of time. I facilitated this group for nine years and learned so much for each and every member. We laughed a lot as we learned from one another.
When I had to stop running the group, I decided to write and offer a book that would act as a support group of sorts. It is available on Amazon.com and bookstores everywhere and is endorsed by CCFA. I hope everyone finds it useful.
The book is entitled: JUST FINE: Unmasking Concealed Chronic Illness and Pain. I mention it because its a unique and valuable resource for people of all ages who are living with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.
The book profiles many people who live with IBD. They tell their stories and the creative ways they cope with the cards they've been dealt.
I'm very glad to have found this newsgroup. I can't wait to look around and see what everyone has to say! I am still coping with the symptoms of Crohn's disease and always appreciate hearing what others have to share. Thank you.
