Team Challenge Inaugural 1/2 Marathon

Sun, June 27, 2010 12:00 AM

Hi everyone.  Today I participated in the Team Challenge 5K for the crohn's and colitiis foundation (Boston 13.1 Inaugural 1/2 Marathon).  What an awesome experience.  When I signed up for the run I never thought running would be a problem, unfortunately I became injured.  My husband took over and fractured his fibula ( the smaller bone in your leg).  My injury was caused from arthritis in my toe and a bunion.  I also suffer from ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease and have been in a flare since the beginning of May, not responding to even prednisone.  You would think I could catch a break somewhere, right?!  Anyway, I just wanted you all to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel on those horrible days when you cannot get out of bed and feel like giving up.  I will most likely be in pain for a couple of days but it was worth it.  Last week I wanted to give up.  I was miserable, had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy and am now possibly suffering from IBS on top of everything else.
Have a great day!

Congratulations on your victory!!   I know how difficult it can be, but what an awesome feeling of accomplishment!

I was going run this year too, but we had a family conflict (my daughter's dance recital), maybe next year.

Be well,
