Disability Insurance through employer?

Thu, October 21, 2010 10:49 AM

Has anyone had success with qualifying for disability insurance that is provided by the employer?  Thank you, Linda

I was on Short Term Disability at full pay for 6 months and am now on Long Term Disability at 70% of my pay for up to 2 years from my employer, the insurance co is Prud.  So far I have not had any issues, of course I am having a pretty bad flare and my doctors are giving the insurance company everything they need to approve the claim.

Good Luck

If you have not been hospitalized in the last 12 months you could look into getting insurance through Aflac. If your employer is willing to offer it to his/her employees. That is how I got disability insurance. It is a no cost of your employer and the company gets a tax write off. Might be something you could look into. Or you could look at other supplemental health insurance. It is usually cheaper.
