After suffering for "74" years with colitis and now ulcerative colitis, I put myself on a Gluten Free Diet.

Nov. 17, 2009 was my first day on this way of eating.  It was hard at first, but not as hard as suffering with pain and accidents several times a year.

I was on and still on meds and Remicaid IV every six weeks, but not until I omitted gluten from my diet did I FINALLY get relief.  Not one, not one single episode since over a year ago.

Hope this helps you.

I have been living with colitis since I was 15 years old. I am now 42. I am thinking of begging my doctor for the surgery. I am so sick and tired of the pain. I have a cousin who had the surgery. He started with a colostomy bag and then had the surgery to remove the bag( not sure what that is called) but he is doing very well he now has no pain and can eat normally
