jury duty

Fri, January 21, 2011 9:52 AM

I just received a summons to jury duty.....this scares me to death and I am so anxious about it due to my colitis....what is I'm flaring that day...what if I have to go to the restroom during court?  I've served on a jury for two days several years ago before these problems and I know that if I have to do this there may be disasterous and embarrasing situations...plus I won't be able to eat b/c after I eat I usually have trips to the restroom for sure.

anyone ever have this situation?

Get your Dr.to write a note stating that you are unable to serve due to  "Irregular bowel function". The judge wont want you. In Arizona you must have a Drs note unless you are 75. That worked for me in the past and now I can use age. They dont want us old folks either.

thanks for the response...I called the # for excuses ..talked with a woman who took my info and said that they would have to talk it over with the judge...I guess he decides?  anyway...they will call me back and let me know if I'm excused.....I hope he's very understanding!

Our jury forms provide space for excuses.   Simply write that you suffer from UC and will be medically unable to be of service.   If necessary, I'm sure your doc can provide a note.
