Colitis and Sex life

Fri, January 21, 2011 3:47 PM

I didn't see any related posts, but my colitis has been horrible lately and it really effects my sex life.  It's not that I'm not in the mood, but it's that when I'm in the middle of doing it, I get that crampy feeling in my gut and then I lose it.  Anyone have any thoughts?  Is this common?

Thank you for saying that about sex and pooping yourself,I also have a wonderful husband,I am 46 and he is 35...I did good right? just kidding...I was alone for years after my divorce because I did not want anyone else have to deal with this,But I found him and all is great... But like you,I am so worried that something like that could happen.I am so glad I found this website and godspeed to you all who put on a brave face and make their way thru the day!!!It;s so nice to no you are not alone.God bless...

Completely understand your pain.  I usually try to initiate sex during the time of day where I'll be most comfortable. Always BEFORE eating anything.  I also find that drinking Ginger tea about a half hour before helps cut down on the irritating symptoms for a little bit.

It really sucks, I know. I don't really have any ideas to make it better. But just wanted to say I can totally relate. Some nights I just have to say no way and other nights I've just sucked it up. I've litterally been scared I'm going to poop during sex, which luckily hasn't happened.

I have a very understanding husband and I hope you have someone who you can continually explain your situation to. Praying you get better.
