What to do when put on an antibiotic for a sinus infection?

Sat, January 22, 2011 8:36 AM

I was put on an antibiotic yesterday that is supposed to be easy on the stomach for a sinus infection that I've been fighting for a week now.  I've taken only 2 doses (1 pill 2x a day) and this morning I just about made it to the bathroom and it was within 20 minutes of taking it.  I don't want it to cause a flare up because for the most part I've been doing okay.  I want to stop taking it but I also want to stop coughing all night long.  Any advice?

You can try taking acidophilus.  It is "good bacteria" and you can purchase in a health food store. It may take several days to help.

You’re in a pickle.  Antibiotics can aggravate IBD symptoms and increase diarrhea .You might want to look into other ways to combat the sinus infections.  Saline nose sprays, steam treatments, cutting out starches and sugars and increase your veggies can help boost your immune system and help speed up the recovery.

Good luck and get well soon.
