Insurance and Medications

How can our insurance company carve out the medications for Crohn's and only cover them under major medical? When I signed up for this insurance with my employer, the three tier drug plan was listed (generic/trade/non-formulary). Nothing was said about "special drugs" that do not fall under the tier program. The patient is responsible for 20% of the thousands of dollars of cost for Remicade, Humira, Cimzia. Isn't this false information at the onset? How do they get away with this misleading information?

Is there an out of pocket cap?  If there isn't, I would contact the drug company directly about an assistance program.  In my experience, they will do what they can to help you.  Gosh - sorry you are having such a time with this!  Frustrating!
