Good Evening, Folks!
I need some help from the CCFA community. I usually go to follow-up appointments with one of my parents. However, this time, my parents can't get off of work. I am taking two hours off from work to go to the appointment. I have had UC for over 1 year. What kind of questions should I ask at this follow-up appointment? Any help and guidance you could give me would be great! I am nervous because it's my first follow-up appointment without a parent to help me understand what the doctor is discussing.
Thanks again for your help and support!

Thank you so much for your help! This really helps me a lot! I am 23, but got diagnosed right before my 22nd birthday(literally a week before my birthday). I just started a new term at college when I got worse and then diagnosed. I was cleared to go back to classes the following week after being in the hospital for a week. I ended up finishing my degree and getting my 4.0 GPA I tried so hard for, not missing a beat. I completed my internship, and received a job offer from another firm before the internship ended. I have been working full-time since November :)
I have made a list of things I want to discuss with my doctor. Hopefully I can write as fast as he can talk! Thank you again for your help!

I have to commend you on your intelligence to reach out and be prepared prior to your appt...... good for you. I am impressed. You are much more mature than I was at your age.
I would suggest brainstorming. Write down every thing that comes up. Whether it be a food that may not be setting well, a supplement that caught your eye, an odd pain/feeling you had since your last appt. Be prepared to see what your bloodwork looks like. I would suggest bringing a small note pad/pen and take notes (especially since your going solo). There is usually a lot of information and you don't want to become overwhelemed and stressed about it. We usually talk about current meds and how they seem to be working and also how our every day is going. Attending school (I guess in your case work) daily, feeling well, exercise, rest, etc. Then we talk about how to proceed. If all seems fine, we don't change a thing, but occassionally we need to "tweek" things here and there.
I hope this gives you a little info. Be well.
