Life Takes a Turn for the Better...Finally

Mon, May 02, 2011 9:45 PM

for once, i have a very positive outlook on my disease. the last two years have been my own personal *** , i had a two year old to raise, was diagnosed with crohns after working through 3 doctors who were'nt listening, then diagnosed with ibs along with crohns. haven't been able to work for months so financially we are struggling. throughout all of this i had 3 hospital stays of one week or longer and have been on a rather thorough regime of remicade (10mg/kg) immuran (150mg) along with anti depressants, uppers downers, pain meds, prednisone withdrawl, etc. i kept complaining of this horrible pain in my lower abdomen and finally i ran into a surgeon (because i also have perianal crohns) and he decided it was time to bite the bullet and undergo exploratory surgery. i was scared, nervous, my family was against it seeing as i am extremely allergic to many narcotics and do not deal well with sedation. deciding to have the surgery was the best decision i could have made. my surgeon was able to remove 11inches of fiberous scar tissue that had adhered to my colon, fallopian tube, and liver. i woke up with respiratory problems and spent some time in the icu, but the surgery was a success! already my stomach feels less tight, and the pain i've been suffering from for years is gone. the pain from the surgery feels like nothing compared to what i'd been through, i didn't know how bad the pain i'd been undergoing was until it was gone. note to self; keep perservering, you know your body more than anyone else and there is relief. i was told i was crazy, i was told i had a mental pain condition....but in the end, i have come out ahead with a new outlook on life.

You are so brave and optimistic! Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with us. I am so happy for you to be out of all that pain! You were never crazy and don't ever let "the man" tell you otherwise. They've tried  it on me, too! You are beautiful and wonderful!
