My Time In The Bathroom vs. Normal People

Thu, November 03, 2011 6:19 AM

This is probably a very silly question, but how long do you normally spend going to the bathroom?  My fiance and my best friend both spend at LEAST 15 minutes at a time going to the bathroom (#2), whereas I am usually in there less than 5 minutes...Is this a Crohn's thing (I have Crohns, they do not) or am I just a speedy pooper?  Sorry for the silliness of the question, but its something that I wonder about....

My wife is easily a 20min process. Me I can go 3 times in 20min. Sometimes I will just sit for 5-10min just to make sure I got it all. I have had too many times where I would go, be in a hurry and within 30sec I am back in there finishing up.

When I had colitis, my bm's totalled 10-18 a day. Since they were watery diarrhea-like, they usually came out fast. I spent maybe 3-4 minutes per.

I have crohns and when I battle with the toilet it's 15 minutes or 20 minutes If I'm not just peeing lol.

I got fired BECAUSE of my crohn's disease which I was newly diagnosed with last year. I've been sick for 10 months and before the beginning of last year I had no crohn's symptoms! I was normal except for non-serious IBS! I randomly got Crohn's disease when nobody I know in the fam has it! Nobody!

Im the same. Iv had Crohns for 10 yrs. Its because we are more liquid. "normal" people have more solid.

But it kinda makes up for the amount of times right 8D if any one says your always in the bath room, you can just state the 30x youve gone still doesnt reach the 10-15 min it takes them for 1!!! rofl

LOL!  Great question and thanks for the laugh.

I think I go in about 1-2 minutes.  I think it is a crohn's thing (I have crohn's colitis, so the end of my colon can be active...).  The way I look at my symptoms, they're the EXACT opposite of folks who deal with constipation.  Before I was diagnosed, I went to the bathroom within 15-20 minutes of every meal, and it took me about 1 minute to go.  I used to joke with my wife that I was "efficient".  In fact, it was the opposite, and I wasn't getting enough nutrition because I wasn't holding onto my food long enough.

Now that I'm getting closer to remission (been adjusting my azathioprene dose) I go less often (1-2 times a day), but it's still quick.  I notice when I flare I go more often (like most folks)... and one thing I notice even more is that I'll go earlier (like first thing in the morning) compared to other times when I feel better I don't end up going so quickly.

One thing that's interesting for me, is I tend to go more often in the morning, rarely after 2-3 pm...

Little TMI for most folks, but for a Crohnie, it's just good potty humor
