Life is to be Enjoyed.......not Endured

Hi,

My name is Danna Andrus, I was diagnoised with Crohns Disease in 1992. I was totally shocked to find out I had such a fatal disease; no one in my family had it. At first I felt I was being punished for something I had done in my past. Out of 12 children, all born to the same parents, why would such a lot fall on me? I went in to depression for about 2 years. At the same time, I was also raising a 12 year old  special needs daughter as a single parent. It was hard at first until I realized that I had a choice in the matter in which I was feeling. The choice was to live or die.If I chose to die, then I would be acting selfishly because my daughter was depending on me to assist her with living her life.On the other hand, If I chose to live, then I was going to live a happy and abundant life. It is 2011 which means I am still here and I am living an abundant life.I had to make some decisions as well as make some major adjustments  in order for me to be where I am today. Currently, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, I am an ordained minisnter of the gospel; I am a memebr of the National Speaker's Association, I am known as Dr.TRUTH, the motivational/inspirational speaker for the youth population, I am a college adjunct professor, I have co-authored  a few books to include "Speaking of Success" with Stephen Covey above all, I have remarried and still raising and loving my special needs daughter who is now age 34. What a choice I made, to live a happy life despite the disease! Life and Love has made my living possible, the crohns disease has made my living  necessary.
