I thought I would lighten things up a little with an amusing colonoscopy story.
So, my last flare up was pretty bad so naturally I ended up in the hospital again. At that time they decided to give me a colonoscopy. The whole thing went as planned, no big deal. Most of you have had one so you know that when you are starting to wake up you have to fart a lot because they pump you full of air. Well... I was laying there and I feel like I have to poo. I yell for the nurse to bring me over one of those bed pans so I can go. But, she tells me, "Oh, thats not poo, you just have to fart, its perfectly normal, fart away". I told her that I was pretty sure it was poo but I will let it go anyway. Neeless to say I sprayed some diearrea in the bed. I laughed and told the nurse to come clean me up. So, she cleaned me.
About 5 minutes later I had that same feeling that I had to go again. I called the nurse over again and this time it was a different nurse. I told her I had to go and she told me the same thing as the last nurse, that it was just air and to go ahead and fart. I assured her that I was going to poo. Of course she didnt believe me. So yet again, I let the "fart" go and yep, you guessed it....diearrea again. This time it was a little different. I was laying on my side and I didnt have my blanket covering me because I was hot. I ended up spraying poo all over the bed, floor, IV machine and a wheelchair.
The nurse came over to check on me and saw what I did. Her jaw just dropped. And I again laughed!

It never ceases to amaze me that medical people don't believe we (patients) know our own bodies. Serves them right- and I am from a medical family.
