Frustrated....

Thu, May 02, 2013 10:59 PM

Hi all....my first time here...don't know where to start...44 years old, and have had my diagnosis since age 13...but probably had it prior as per my Mother.....I've been one of the "lucky" ones for sure, with a "non-agressive" (lol!) form of the illness...yet I found myself in a "mystery illness" nightmare for THREE up and down years, of NO diagnosis, but I just KNOW it had at least something to do with the Chrons, or I caught some crazy virus because of all that goes along with it...so here I find myself, after much sucesses, with post traumatic stress, and after literally a few years of tragedy and trauma in a row, in relapse, as my life seems to continue to fall apart...I've done years of work, studying martial arts, meditation, and do a lot of natural things to help....yet, my newer doctors seem very lacking in their plans, pain management - "take Tylenol" ha!- and I am just so frustrated I did not know where to turn but try here- it seems I have taken many steps backwards...and all I can do is cry every day, even when I know I am lucky. Any words of encouragement or advices  MUCH appreciated!

You should most definitely seek a second opinion about your treatement from the best doctor you can find--preferably a professor gastroenterology at a medical school. The easiest way to find a doctor of that caliber is to go to the US News Top Doctors Web site: http://health.usnews.com/top-doctors . Type in "gastroeneterologist" in the "specialist" window, along with the rest fo the requested information, and you will get a list of the most esteemed specialists in your vicinity (as determined by extensive polling of medical professionals). Even if it's a bit of a distance to see such a doctor, it would be well worth you while to take the trouble. BEST OF LUCK AND GOD BLESS!
