Cymbalta

Fri, November 07, 2008 5:45 PM

Is anyone on more than 60 mg of Cymbalta for depression/anxiety?  I was just increased to to 90 day, however, the doc who initally prescribed it told me 60 mg was the max you could take.  My new doc differs.  Thanks in advance.

he owner manual will provide information on the type of shocks that are best suited for your vehicle. This information can vary depending on the make and model of the car, so it's important to refer to the manual to ensure you're purchasing the right shocks. https://shocksguide.com

Hi everyone,  My doc said cymbalta is for all of the above, depression, anxiety, fibromyalgia.  I am now taking 60mg am & pm & I think it is helping.  I also take xanex .50 nightly to sleep.  If I have to go to something big, like a party(holidays/bdays) or a long trip I will take it through out the day.  The only thing is, it does make you drowsy & I have enough fatigue.  I started with prozac in 2003 & it worked well for awhile.  But I have had so many set backs & I'm a born worrier so thats why we tried the cymbalta.  I don't really think the cymbalta helps with pain.  Although I have had crohns since the late 1980's and just in the last 8 years is when all these extrainstinal problems have showed their ugly faces.  Prior to that had the DD & urgent BM's which were very difficult but now all these extra things are kicking my butt.  I am on SSDI & just getting in the shower is hard.  I just try to use the "energy conservation" techs.  Meaning, always resting & not over doing it.  When I do too much, I'm down & out even more.  Plus I'm 45 and the body is not like is was when I was younger.  I use to be so positive & now its mentally hard work to be that way.  God bless hope everyone feels good today.

I couldn't believe you were asking this question.  My Dr. wants to up me from 60 to 120 mg. for anxiety.  I too was told 30 mg. was normal and 60mg was highest.  We just had the discussion last night.  I am thinking of going for it since I need help.  What about you?  I am not sure why she doubled me though.  I think I will check back with her and go to 90.  Have you been on anything else?  I was on Paxil for years and it worked  great then stopped working.  So they tried Prozac that was a nightmare.  I'm on Cymbalta since june but, at lease 1 x /month Ihave anxiety for 5-7 days.  I hate it!  Let me know about you.

Yeah Kelly, my doc did suggest adding some other antidepre. but we started just by upping the cymbalta.  I decided to take the 60 in the pm too instead of just 30.  I just found out too that my sessions with my therapist are up & can't see her again until after the new year.   Unless I want to pay 90 a visit, now way.  You've been a great help to me.  I'm going to just keep the faith & pray & try to at least exercise everyday even if its for 5 mins.  Also, I've read that Humira has side effects of fatigue, which is my biggest problem.  I'm going to speak with my GI doc in Jan about that.  I just don't want to be put on another one of those drugs.  But, really I don't do much & its really hitting me emotionally.  Thanks again.

I have a great husband too, and that works wonders. I will say that you might need to combo two antidepressants to get better relief. I take 20 mg of Lexapro with my 60 mg of Cymbalta and it has helped me so much. I feel so much better, and that despite having repeated flare ups, and now terrible lower back pain. I feel like an old lady at 37, but I am not nearly as depressed.

Hi Kelly, thanks for responding!  I don't feel better yet, but, hopefully soon.  The doc said in 2 weeks if I don't feel better, I should then take 30mg more.  So 60mg in am & pm.  It makes me tired but I know that will go away.  I used to be so outgoing & fun, my life now is just trying to accomplish something each day!  I hate feeling like this.  I'm so grateful I have a very, very understanding husband.  He helps me with everything.  I hope you are having a good day.

I take 60 mg, and that is a moderate dose according to my doctor, so I wouldn't worry about taking 90. Do you feel better? I know Cymbalta has really helped my depression.
