Hey this is my first time on here so not sure how this works. But i been reading alot of yall blogs it really seems to help me make since of how im felling. I just been diganose with crohn's about 6 months ago. I had a babygirl about 6 months befor that, she is 17 months now. My husband is the best... he has been supporting me 10000% and it helps but at the same time it makes me fill so guilty cause he works so hard than he got this with me he having to deal with. I wish i could do something to help him cause he doing so much for me and my daughter. I went to my doctor yesterday for my check up, they got me on asocle and the prednisone right now and i fill good but i still get the swelling in my stomic at night and the pain not as bad and not as offtin but they are talking about puting me on the humira if the prednisone dont work. I will no in about 4 weeks if thats what they going to do. But the sideeffect that the doctors and what i had read really got me scard about the med. Does anyone have any suggestion on it that can make me fill better about it? Cause i fill like if i take it, it going to give me cancer, or i get the really bad side effect and it kills me. and i dont want to leave my daughter and husband alone. What should I do?

I know that your scared right now but i am telling you i got diagnosed with Crohns and Colitis 5 years ago. I have been on every medicine known for the disease. I to have taken the humira. Dont worry about the cancer these are normal side that they have to tell you about. Humiria works great i was on it for awhile an di know that your struggling and feeling down especially with a new baby i am a single mom of 2 and it is very hard. But it sounds like to me reading your letter that you have the support of a great husband that will help you out and you also have a new little one. You take care i am sure this will work out well for you.

Hello, I do understand you about being scared taking the medicines that are out there. My 7yr old has crohn's disease he was diagnosed in 2006 and last year I had to make the decision to put him on Remicade and like Humira the side affects are the same it was a tough and scary decision for me to make but I decided to try it unfortunelly he has had 10 infusions and no sign of it working, so i stopped the infusions though his doctor didn't want to I thought why keep putting this foreign object in his body if it is not working. If that is your only option then I suggest do your research about it and give it a try but do ask your doc before how many treatments till you will know if it is working for you because if you don't see improvement in that time stop the medication.

It seems so overwhelming for you right now.  You just had a baby and then 6 months later you find out you have Crohn's.  You are so lucky you have a great husband to help you.  I know you are so scared with the meds.  My daughter has UC and was diagnosed at 16.  Now she is 18 and she's on Azathiaprine and Lialda.  We were worried about the side effect of the meds also.  Here's the thing, they are keeping her under control.  There are always side effects to everything.  The meds outweigh the risk of a flare.  She can't live her life in the bathroom.  We are so thankful that we live in a time where there are meds to help IBD.  One of her doctors told her he thought there would even be a cure for IBD in 10 years.  There are new meds coming out all the time and new research too.  I know it seems so scary taking the meds.  My daughter sees her doctor every 3 months and also has blood tests every 3 months so she is monitored to make sure everything is ok.  It's so natural for you to feel this way especially after having a baby.   This forum is so great to get insight on other IBD "family" members.  Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing : )
