Need some input

Sat, February 06, 2010 1:00 AM

I have had this damn disease for nine years and I was just hospitilaized for a week and a half because when I went in for my remicade infusion I am now allergic to benedryl. I have never seen more ignorant people then when I was just in the hospital, I was having muscle spasms because of the allergic reaction and some genius gave me 30 shots of versid in one day making me almost comatose and gave me Cojentin? I think thats how you spell it a drug that isnt supposed to be given for people who have crohns or colitis. And colonipin which is seizure medicine when they knew I wasnt having seizures. My heart rate rose to 174 and the drs played it off like this was normal. One day in the hospital I had over 45 back spasms now every muscle from my neck to my ankles was affected and am now in intensive physical thereapy three times a week for 2 hours at a time. Just when I thought i was in an ok place got accepted into college was all ready to transfer in the fall when this hapened and now I have to drop out and take a medical leave of absence.

I guess I just need someone anyone to talk to any input or insight would be awesome

Hi

Unfortunately we have to be on top of our own medical care, which is hard to do when you are feeling like crap and trusting the dr's and nurses to do this...klonopin is also used for anxiety and muscle spasms...it was originally prescribed for seizures.  hang in there..things will get better!

I am sorry to read your post......sounds like one he-- of an experience.   I have been dealing with CD for 6 yrs. now.....not me, but my daughter (she just turned 10), so I can definitely relate to the ups and downs.

Please do not use the words drop-out and college in the same sentence.  Just keep it as a temporary leave of absence.   Make sure you take the necessary steps with the school to keep you @status quo, this way when you are able to return, it will be seemless as if you never left!   You can do this, you can achieve great things!!

In the meantime, continue with the physical therapy to get yourself back in the game.  All my best.
