Terrified of psc

Mon, September 01, 2025 5:11 PM

I've had uc since around 2011. I am on Entyvio infusions and had blood work last week. My bloodwork showed a slight elevation of ALP (116 the max is 104). I just recently got a new GI as my last one moved out of state. I haven't even seen this new doc yet. Anyway, she wants me to get a MRCP (mri). I am very scared that she is looking for PSC. I can't eat, I'm crying constantly, my stomach is in knots, and of course looking up everything on Google, and I just plain fear this diagnosis. I just can't understand why this new doc would order this when my last one, who I had for years, just kept monitoring my ups and downs. I am wondering if my last G.I. was dropping the ball on this or if it is normal to just keep monitoring the ups and downs for years.  My highs have always been very mild. In the last two years, I only had two high ALP results. My MRI is on Thursday and I just don't know how I'm going to be able to make it to Thursday! Then not to mention I have to wait for who knows how long for the results! If anyone out there can please help calm my nerves I would be forever grateful to you!

Here is what the GI nurse emailed me after I expressed my fear and why this is being ordered:

Hi Lisa,

What are the barriers you're having to getting the MRI?

Ultimately, since you are having a transition of care from Dr. Sinh to a new provider, your current provider may have different recommendations. I can see from the previous office notes that she was monitoring your liver enzymes and was communicating with endocrinology about this as well. This is the next step to rule out what is causing the elevated liver enzymes.
