The Neverending Rectal Flare (that's getting worse not better)

Tue, January 17, 2012 12:53 PM

In December I started to have streaks of blood in my stools again. On December 23rd I saw my colon rectal doctor and he looked and believes that I am forming a rectal ulcer and another fissure. He put me on Canasa suppositories, hydrocortizone cream, and more Nucynta. I feel that since I have started the Canasa my pain has increased.
A week ago I go to my pharmacy to fill my another nucynta script (I'm up to taking 75 mg, either 1 1/2 or 2 tablets). I have been having so much rectal pain that I am almost finished with a bottle. While I spoke to my pharmacist (and I've been using the same pharmacy for about 10 years) anddiscussed with her my tolerance. She also said that I shouldn't be suprised if the script only lasts me a week.Well, last night I  was shocked to see I had 7 or 8 left. I got really scared that I'm addicted to them. I do keep track of my meds, symtpoms and stools thru an app.
I have an appointment with my GI and my Colon/Rectal Doctor this week. I am scared for what they have to say.I don't know what they're going to see or find or want to do.
But it all comes down to this. I am in HORRIBLE pain. I have gone "green" and my issue with that is my state has no compassion laws, the people I live with do not support it, some of my doctor's don't support it (they say it could counteract my bipolar/depression meds), and all the secrecy is tiring and getting old. I worry about it making my bipolar/depression meds not work. I just don't know what to do at this point. I'm scared to call my doctor monday and ask for a new script. I'm scared about how quickly my tolerance of the Nucynta has gone up. I'm scared I'm addicted. There's just so much it feels like going on and it all seems so scary. I keep doing all that I can, but I feel like I'm reaching a breaking point. PLEASE HELP!

Hey, I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through...I also have a huge rectal problem among other things I understand the pain. It's impossible to walk, sit , stand, etc....
When it comes to the pain medication whether you have an addiction I can't personally tell you. I feel your body is just use to it and you need more of it to feel even a slight difference in your pain. The reason why I say this is because I as well have this problem. I do tell my doctor about this problem because its so unhealthy to be taking such a large amount of pills in such a short period of time. I honestly think you should be honest with your doctor including the green. Feeling alone I can definitely understand no one can truly understand the physical and emotional pain you are going through but yourself. Try to fight it girl be strong don't let this disease break you down . The doctors are there to help your physically and also emotionally through talking to you through your symptoms and your  medicinal therapy. If your not comfortable with your doctor you should look into finding another one. It is important to put you first and do whatever it takes to make you healthy and happy.
I hope I helped some... Good luck dear.
